Comfort Zones (and why I hate them)

I'm someone who loves their comfort zone. A lot. I get anxious as soon as I make plans and immediately start thinking about how to get out of them even if I don't want to. I'm an introvert so basically everything involving meeting people stresses me out at first. But the majority of fun things in my life happened because I did something I was terrified of and realised it wasn't that bad after all. Realising that is forcing me to do more things I feel uncomfortable with because I know that's how I'll have a great time. For me in particular I'm trying to get over my anxiousness because I know it could be a huge problem in the future when I don't have a steady routine to follow (aka once I'm done with school and have to figure out what to do next)

Here are some of the ways I combat my desire to stay in my comfort zone all the time:
- Say yes to things. I have this habit of never really saying yes to things, allowing me to find excuses at the last second. Just saying yes as soon as someone asks me if I want to go somewhere means I have to show up.
- Do something in the time leading up to the thing I need to do. It doesn't help to just sit there and fidget in the two hours leading up to something so trying to find something useful to pass the time is really useful.
- Practise. This probably explains itself but the more I put myself in situations I wanted to say no to before the easier it gets.
- Remember past experiences. Most of the time I have fun once I'm surrounded by people or distractions. Remembering that I've done things in the past and had fun and probably will again can be really helpful.

What are you're tips to combat anxiety and getting out of your comfort zone?
